Lincoln City vs Port Vale Predictions

As the sun sets on the final day of 2018 and we enter into the next calendar year, the battle for League Two glory is still going on strong. On New Years day the side who currently occupy pole position in that race, Lincoln City, will look to further cement their spot at the top of the division when they welcome an out of form Port Vale side to Sincil Bank.

The hosts have been the success story of the season so far and under the stewardship of the Cowley brothers, they look to be well placed to add some more silverware to their trophy cabinet come the end of the campaign. The Imps will have to guard against complacency as they currently hold a six point lead over their closest rivals and, as most teams have found this season, it is near impossible to return home with a positive result when visiting Sincil Bank.

The next team to try their luck is a Port Vale side who have found their luck to be in pretty short supply in their recent outings. They go into this match on the back of two straight defeats and they are without a win in their previous five league matches. To make matters worse, they have only managed to claim three victories on the road this season and have only scored a measly nine times when not playing in front of their own fans.

The strength of the hosts is clear for all to see, and given the struggles of their visitors, it appears to be a pretty generous price on offer for a Lincoln City win. When you couple in that the Imps have already proven their dominance over Port Vale in the reverse fixture, a match which finished 6-2 in Lincoln’s favour, then it is easy to see why we are backing a home win in this fixture.

However, as we stated previously, the Imps will have to guard against complacency in this one. Their attacking approach on home soil often leaves them open at the back and the fact that they have only kept one clean sheet at Sincil Bank in the league this season leads us to believe that combining both teams to score with our Lincoln to win tip is an excellent way to boost the potential return on offer.
