Liverpool failed to make their dominance count against Manchester United and Sunday and could come up against stern opposition in their Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to make at least a few changes for Wednesday’s tie, with previous rounds producing some rotation among the Reds and a hectic festive fixture list putting pressure on their first-choice players.

This could open the door for West Ham to defy the odds, especially given their form of late.

Hammers could take advantage of weakened home team

The Hammers strolled to a comfortable 3-0 win over Wolves at the weekend and have lost just one of their last nine competitive matches, winning on seven occasions.

David Moyes side beat Arsenal 3-1 in the last round of this competition and fielded a strong lineup for that tie. They have won three of their last four away games and look a good price in the double chance market on Wednesday.

A win in normal time could prove a step too far, though, and a draw looks the most likely outcome. Their last stalemate was a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at the start of this month and a repeat of that could be on the cards.
