Tip Reasoning

  • Liverpool have won their last six league games, scoring 18 times
  • The Reds have scored 31 times across their last 10 league clashes with West Ham
  • The Hammers have failed to score in all but one of their trips to top-half teams

Reds’ quadruple dream carries on

Liverpool beat Norwich 2-1 in midweek in the FA Cup, keeping their fantastic season going. Having already won the Carabao Cup, the Reds could add as many as three more trophies to the pile before this campaign is done.

Saturday’s Premier League clash with West Ham is another chance for the Reds to close the gap on Man City, especially with the Manchester derby to come on Sunday. Liverpool will be within three points of the top with a victory over a West Ham side who look out of sorts.

Hammer blow

A 3-1 defeat in the FA Cup in midweek was a massive setback for West Ham, who lost their best shot at silverware in a loss at Southampton. The Hammers made their priorities clear by naming a strong line-up, with the Saints making more changes than the Champions League hopefuls.

However,  the Hammers looked leggy and they were swept aside by Southampton. That has left Moyes in a tricky position. Having named his strongest side in midweek, he can either stick with a team who look like they need a break, or he can rotate ahead of an incredibly difficult trip.

Reds to triumph at Fortress Anfield

Liverpool have won 10 of their last 11 games in all competitions, while they’ve won 13 of their last 15 matches at home. To worry West Ham further, the Reds are winning style.

Liverpool have won their last six Premier League games by an aggregate score of 18-2. At home, the Reds are unbeaten in 17 league games (W13 D4), winning the last eight by an aggregate score of 26-2.

The hosts have also scored in each of their last 11 Premier League games against West Ham, netting at least twice in 10 of these meetings (31 goals in total). Given that run, I’m backing over 2.5 Liverpool goals in this one. Meanwhile, West Ham have scored just one away to top half sides, so back a 3-0 Reds win.

Liverpool predicted lineup: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson; Keita, Fabinho, Henderson; Salah, Mane, Diaz

West Ham predicted lineup: Fabianski; Johnson, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell; Soucek, Rice; Bowen, Lanzini, Fornals; Antonio
