Livingston vs The New Saints Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews

Livingston haven’t let last season’s relegation from the Scottish Championship damage their confidence too much, and at the moment they are on the right track to bounce back up the divisions.

Their 3-1 win over East Fife last weekend made it four wins on the bounce in all competitions and leaves them two points clear of Brechin City at the top of the table, and they’re hoping to add some cup success to their league run as well.

Last midweek Livingston beat Crusaders 3-0 in their rearranged Scottish Challenge Cup tie to set up a quarter final clash with Welsh dominants The New Saints.

The visitors were one of two Welsh teams to be entered into this season’s Scottish Challenge Cup as the minor cups in Scotland get a bit of a revamp. Two Northern Irish teams were also entered, one of which Livingston have already eliminated.

The New Saints could be a bit more of a challenge though. They are complete dominants of Welsh football at the moment and have won a huge 17 matches on the bounce in all competitions. Their last defeat was a 3-0 loss to APOEL in the Champions League qualifiers, but they showed their ability with a goalless draw at home to them in the first leg of that tie.

Scottish League Two side Forfar Athletic were the first team they faced in this new competition for them. It was a fairly simply 3-1 win away from home, but Livingston are significantly better than Forfar Athletic and both teams will feel they have a good chance of making it to the semi finals.

For all of the visitors quality, they haven’t managed to keep many clean sheets recently. Five of their last seven away days have seen them concede a goal, although their excellent attacking qualities mean they have still won every match. Livingston have conceded in each of their last eight home games as well but have managed to find the net in all but one of them.

The New Saints should be able to get the win here. They have the quality to do so and their confidence is sky high at the moment, but I’m not expecting a clean sheet from them. Odds of 12/5 for a The New Saints Win and Both Teams to Score look very good value, and I’m going for a 3-1 correct score prediction at 14/1 as well.
