Lorient vs Paris Saint Germain Betting Tips & Predictions

Lorient left it late to recover a point at home to Toulouse on Saturday as a 91st minute equaliser was required to cancel out Ben Yedder’s opener early in the second half.

This is a fairly disappointing result considering Toulouse’s status at the moment, but with Lorient sitting in mid-table with no hope of Europe but no threat of relegation you can forgive them for being distracted ahead of a crucial Coupe De France semi final.

Lorient did manage to beat Caen last weekend though, a result which made it one win, three draws, and two defeats in their last six outings in all competitions. They are in reasonable form coming into this difficult match.

Paris Saint Germain also beat Caen recently, with their 6-0 hammering at the Parc des Princes giving them some sense of satisfaction after crashing out of the Champions League in midweek.

This means the quadruple is off the table for the runaway Ligue 1 champions, but a domestic treble is still well on the cards. Their Coupe de la Ligue final against Lille follows this Coupe De France semi-final, and winning these next two matches would be cause for forgiveness after their lacklustre performances against Manchester City.

Lorient have conceded eight goals in their last five home matches in all competitions, and apart from their clash with Lyon these haven’t been against particularly good teams. This isn’t a good defensive record to possess when coming face to face with a PSG side on the warpath. The visitors have netted 14 goals in their last five matches and thrashed Troyes 9-0 away from home recently.

This makes odds of 8/13 for Over 2.5 Goals look good value to me, and I’m backing that along with a 3-1 win for PSG at 10/1.
