Strasbourg vs Lorient Predictions

Strasbourg should be backed to beat Lorient at home in Ligue 1 on Sunday. The visitors have lost nine of their last 11 away games and could be heading for another defeat here.

Strasbourg are eighth in Ligue 1, five places and five points above Lorient, with seven wins, one draw and seven losses from their 15 games this season. The visitors have won four, drawn five and lost six.

The Strasbourg defence have been impressive at home this season, conceding just four goals in seven games – an average of 0.57 per game. They have kept clean sheets in five of their last seven home games in Ligue 1.

Strasbourg will fancy their chances of scoring here. They have averaged over two goals a game in their seven Ligue 1 games against bottom-half teams this season.

Strasbourg have momentum at the moment, having won five of their last seven Ligue 1 home games.

But they have been struggling for results lately, losing five of their last seven, while Lorient have not won any of their seven Ligue 1 away games this season.

Lorient have been disappointing in front of goal away from home this season, scoring just two goals in seven games – an average of 0.29 goals a game on the road. They have blanked in five of their last seven Ligue 1 away games.

The visitors have looked vulnerable at the back. Lorient have failed to keep a clean sheet in 17 of their last 20 Ligue 1 games and have yet to keep a shutout away from home this season, conceding an average of two goals per game.

A narrow 1-0 victory for Strasbourg looks the most likely outcome. Five of Lorient’s last seven Ligue 1 matches have produced under 2.5 goals and three of Strasbourg’s seven wins this season have come via a 1-0 scoreline.
