Lorient vs Troyes Predictions

• Lorient have lost their last two home games and four of their last six overall.
• Troyes have avoided defeat in three of their last five Ligue 1 away games, including a 2-2 draw at PSG.
• Troyes have won five of the last six head-to-head meetings with Lorient (Drawn 1).

Something fishy about Les Merlus’ form 

Troyes have a tremendous record in recent head-to-head meetings with Lorient and there’s no reason to suspect that will change when the two safe, but struggling sides meet on Saturday. Troyes have won five of the last six clashes with Les Merlus, including on each of their last two visits to Le Moustoir.

Lorient appear, without delving too deep into their situation, to be on the nearby beach and ready for their summer holidays. Their last notable result was five games ago when a 1-0 home win over then-relegation rivals Metz took them to 34 points – a figure that seemed likely to be enough to ensure safety.

And so they are, despite taking just a solitary point from their next four contests – from rock-bottom Bordeaux. Lorient’s form of four defeats in their last six is arguing strongly against backing them at short odds to win this game.

Take Troyes to win, but with some caution 

Troyes seemed to be giving their all when they beat outgoing champions Lille earlier this month and followed that up with a superb 2-2 draw at the Parc des Princes against PSG. But last weekend’s 3-1 home loss to a Lens side that looked much more up for it has us wondering if they might be about to join Lorient in the queue for the deckchairs.

The visitors are still the preference here, but draw no bet has to be the option taken as Troyes have been very hit and miss on the road. They did win two and draw one of their visits to the three clubs currently below Lorient in the table.

Lorient have failed to score in more than half of their last 11 home Ligue 1 matches, so there’s some scope in backing Troyes to take this one by a solitary goal – as they did on their last visit just over two years ago.
