PSG vs Liverpool Predictions

Coming into the penultimate round of group games in Champions League Group C, I think it’s fair to say that nobody expected the table to look like this. PSG and Liverpool were the overwhelming favourites for the top 2 spots, but with just 6 points left to play for, the entire group is separated by an easily bridged 2 points.

Napoli are the side sitting at the top of the pile after 3 draws and a shock win over Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp’s men level on points with the Italians but facing a daunting trip to the French capital on Wednesday. PSG have 5 points, and know that a win could send them to the top of the group on Wednesday.

The Ligue 1 giants are absolutely cruising domestically as well. They have won every one of their 14 Ligue 1 matches and have scored a ridiculous 46 goals in the process. They have added 11 goals in 4 games in the Champions League too, taking their total up to 57 goals in 18 games since the season began. 35 of these have come in their 10 home games too, so Liverpool’s defence could come under attack here.

There are some doubts over the fitness of the star attacking duo of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, but Thomas Tuchel is optimistic that they can recover in time for this all important fixture in Paris.

Liverpool made it all the way to the Champions League final last season, but you wouldn’t know that based on their last performance in the competition. They looked distinctly average as they were stunningly beaten 2-0 by Group  C whipping boys Red Star Belgrade, and in all competitions they have only won 5 of their last 11 games.

Away from home in the Champions League they have been very poor indeed, losing both games against Napoli and Red Star Belgrade to make it 3 Champions League away day losses on the bounce. They have only actually won 4 of their last 12 away games in the competition, so PSG know they have the upper hand here.

The home side have been almost unstoppable at the Parc des Princes this season. Napoli did manage to impressively take a point from them, but PSG have won all of their other 9 games there. Given their form and Liverpool’s poor showings away from home in the Champions League this season, we think backing a PSG Win holds a lot of value along with a 3-2 correct score predictions.
