Los Angeles FC vs Atlanta United Predictions

LAFC sit nine points clear at the top of the Western Conference table and look like they are the team to beat in the MLS this season but their guests this weekend, Atlanta United, have turned their season around after a slow start and now sit second in the Eastern Conference.

LAFC made the short trip to the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson last weekend to face LA Galaxy, where their poor form against their local rivals continued. Vela put the visitors in front from the penalty spot after just four minutes but Ibrahimovic equalised for LA Galaxy shortly after. The enigmatic Swede thrust the hosts in front early in the second half and completed his hat trick in the seventieth minute. Vela pulled a goal back for the visitors deep into stoppage time but the scoreline ended 3-2.

Atlanta United had the home advantage against fellow Eastern Conference side DC United on Sunday, where the two clubs went in level at the break goalless. DC United clearly missed Rooney’s creativity and threat in the final third and late goals from the two Martinez’s saw Atlanta United claim a deserved three points.

The last meetings between these two clubs and the form and performances of the pair heading into Saturday’s match all points towards both teams scoring and over 2.5 goals being scored. LAFC have played one game less than Atlanta United this season but have accumulated ten more points. Both Teams scored and over 2.5 goals were produced when these two sides last met back in February. Both teams scored and over 2.5 goals were also produced in four of LAFC’s last five and three of Atlanta United’s last six matches. LAFC have won three of their last five matches, and we’re backing the hosts to claim all three points this weekend courtesy of a 2-1 final score.

Vela leads the way in the MLS with 21 goals for LAFC this season, while the league’s top scorer of last season, Martinez, top scores for Atlanta United with 16 goals to his name. We’re confident that both teams will score and over 2.5 goals will be scored on Saturday, and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-1 to the hosts. LAFC have never beaten Atlanta United before but the hosts head into this weekends match with ten more points on the board than their guests, despite playing fewer games. Both teams have been scoring goals on a regular basis and we can’t see that changing when the pair lock horns on Saturday.
