Lugano vs St. Gallen Betting Tips & Predictions

It’s going right down to the wire for Lugano this season. They were promoted from the 2nd tier last season and find themselves on the verge of remaining in the Swiss Super League as we come into the final game of the season.

They have a one point advantage over FC Zurich below them, but a worse goal difference than the bottom of the table side. A win would guarantee their safety, but anything other than that and they will be removing their fate from their own hands.

Winning isn’t something that Lugano have managed much of this season. They have only won one of their last seven outings in the league and have lost four times during the same period. However, we all know what a team that’s threatened with imminent relegation can pull out of the hat.

Lugano also have a Swiss Cup Final coming up against none other than FC Zurich, so it could be double disappoint for one of these teams in the closing stages of the season.

St. Gallen have trudged along to another uninspiring but safe season in the Super League. They occupy 7th position at this late stage, with the lowest potential position being 8th and the highest being 6th.

Their form is nothing to write home about either. They have only managed two victories in their last 13 outings in the Super League and have lost nine times during this period. Away from home they have lost five and drawn two of their last seven league matches.

With St. Gallen having nothing left to play for and Lugano desperately seeking a win to secure a 2nd season in the top flight I think the hosts will get the win on Wednesday. I’m expecting a high scoring match as well. The visitors have conceded 19 times in their last seven away games and lost 4-0 to Zurich during this time. All but two of these games had at least three goals scored, so odds of 10/11 for a Lugano Win and Over 2.5 Goals look good to me. I’m going for a 3-1 correct score prediction at 9/1 as well.
