Tip Reasoning

  • Luton have won seven of their last ten home Championship games, Blackpool have lost six of their last 11 on the road.
  • Both teams have scored in seven of the last nine Blackpool away league games.
  • Luton are likely to have a stand-in goalkeeper again after James Shea was injured at Cardiff.

Injury-hit Luton look hungry for one more win

Luton appear to be doing it the hard way, but you cannot fault the Hatters for their determination and fighting spirit in winning back-to-back games over Easter. Another victory from their remaining three fixtures would ensure a play-off berth for Nathan Jones’ men.

They lost three more players to injury during Monday’s crucial 1-0 win at Cardiff with James Bree and Fred Onyedinma joining an already-lengthy casualty list. And Jones could well be forced into bringing in yet another emergency loan goalkeeper after James Shea suffered a knee injury at Cardiff City Stadium to make it six different keepers the club have used this season.

There is some better news, however, with the return of captain Sonny Bradley likely after he served a one-game suspension following his red card in the 1-0 Good Friday win over Nottingham Forest. Luton undoubtedly have the greater motivation to win this and possess the better form, so we wouldn’t be put off their match odds of around 4/5 here.

Pool always worth playing in BTTS betting

But no Championship team has seen both teams to score land away from home more than Blackpool and we cannot resist backing Neil Critchley’s men to find the net at Kenilworth Road after their 6-1 Easter Monday mauling of Birmingham. It’s true, Birmingham might currently have the least robust defence in the division, but the Tangerines were terrific and will be brimful of confidence for this trip south.

Both teams have scored in seven of the last nine Blackpool away league games, of which they have only lost four. But Luton have gone to the well and found something extra recently which suggests to us they won’t be denied victory here, even if they are forced to play a patchwork defence in front of a new goalkeeper.

A 2-1 Hatters win has our vote in correct score betting with that scoreline occurring in two of Luton’s last six home wins and two of Blackpool’s last three away league defeats.
