Napoli to burst Udinese’s bubble
Udinese have made an outstanding start to the new Serie A season, but they may struggle to prevent Napoli from extending their 100% record when the sides line up at Dacia Arena this Monday night.
Following a 14th place finish last term and a string of underwhelming campaigns in recent years, Udinese fans will be full of optimism at present after seeing their side claim seven points from their opening three matches.
Wins to nil over Venezia (3-0) and Spezia (0-1) have followed a battling 2-2 draw against Juventus, and I Bianconeri certainly look capable of a productive season based on what they’ve shown thus far.
Nonetheless, Luca Gotti’s side are expected to be stretched here on Matchday 4 by a Napoli outfit who boast a 100% record after three wins from three. I Partenopei also bested Juve in their last league game, before playing out an entertaining 2-2 draw against Leicester City in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
The Neapolitans have won nine of the last ten meetings between the teams including a 5-1 thrashing of I Bianconeri at Stadio San Paolo in May, while they’ve also triumphed in seven of their last eight top flight assignments on the road. Overall, we feel Luciano Spalletti’s charges may have too much quality this Monday, despite Udinese’s momentum and impressive recent results.
We do anticipate the hosts making a real game of this one though, and any Napoli victory is likely to be via a narrow margin. With that in mind, we’re also backing a 1-2 correct score as Matchday 4 in Italy draws to a close at Dacia Arena.
