Borussia Dortmund Double Chance (Win or Draw)
Reasoning
PSG vs Borussia Dortmund Predictions
- Borussia Dortmund have lost just one of their last ten Champions League matches
- PSG are without a clean sheet in their last seven games in all competitions
- PSG have won only three of their last seven assignments
- Niclas Fullkrug has scored three times in this season’s Champions League
Dortmund can hold firm at the Parc des Princes
The equation is simple for Borussia Dortmund – avoid defeat against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night and they are through to the Champions League final.
Dortmund established a 1-0 lead in the first leg at Signal Iduna Park last Wednesday with a smart finish from Niclas Fullkrug having been the difference between the sides.
Edin Terzic’s men defended pretty well in that game, although they were aided by some wastefulness in the final third from PSG.
The Ligue 1 giants have since been given a break domestically, whereas Dortmund kept themselves warm with a 5-1 hammering of Augsburg on Saturday.
Marco Reus scored in that match, having recently announced that he will call time on his Dortmund career at the end of the season, and the club will be eager to give him the appropriate send-off by making the Champions League final.
To avoid taking the tie to extra-time, PSG will have to win by two goals or more but their defensive deficiencies suggest that could be tricky.
PSG’s defensive concerns could let them down
Luis Enrique’s men have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last seven contests in all competitions, failing to keep out Clermont Foot, Barcelona, Lyon, Lorient, Le Havre and Dortmund as part of that run.
And the news that Lucas Hernandez is out with an ACL injury – ruling him out until 2025 – will do PSG no favours at the back.
They have their own player they will be looking to give the right send-off – Kylian Mbappe is set to play his last European clash at the Parc des Princes – but things may not go according to plan.
Since losing their opening match in the competition against PSG, Dortmund have lost just one of their last ten games in this season’s Champions League, topping the group of death before taking down PSV Eindhoven and Atletico Madrid in the knockout stage.
They have excelled on the continental stage this season and are worth backing in Paris to avoid defeat in the double chance market.
Fullkrug can find the net again
The net should bulge at both ends, so 1-1 looks a decent correct score pick, while Fullkrug could again be a decent bet to score.
The forward has rediscovered his form recently and is a danger in the air, meaning he could pop up with a goal from a set piece in a cagey second leg.
