Lyon likely to make it two wins from two

Off-field issues were not enough to stop Lyon securing sixth place in Ligue 1 last term and they have picked up where they left off, opening with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Lens. 

That marked Les Gones’ fifth win in eighth Ligue 1 outings and they are strong favourites to follow up against promoted Metz, who performed admirably in the promotion/relegation playoff to defy the odds against Reims. 

However, their return to Ligue 1 was an unhappy one as they were beaten 1-0 by a youthful Strasbourg – none of the victors’ starters were older than 22 – and they look set for another tough outing at Parc Olympique Lyonnais, where Saturday’s hosts have lost just once in eight home matches. . 

Metz may frustrate their hosts 

Although Lyon look set for victory, it may be a low-scoring one. They managed just three shots on target in their win over Lens and Metz will look to frustrate their hosts. 

Just one of the pair’s last six head-to-heads have seen over 3.5 goals land as a winning bet and it could pay to combine that selection with a home win to boost the odds. 

Both sides struggled for fluency in their Ligue 1 opener and it would be a major surprise to see the goals flow.
