Fluminense and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Fluminense only need a draw to progress but a victory would probably see them top the group and their performances suggest they should be too strong for South Africa’s Mamelodi. The Brazilian outfit did concede twice against Ulsan and the Sundowns hit three in defeat to Dortmund. The African outfit know only a win will do and they should adopt a positive approach so take a chance on Fluminense to win and concede.

Fluminense 3-1

Reason for tip

A Fluminense win with goals at both ends is predicted and as each of their last three wins have been by two-goal margins a 3-1 win for the Brazilian big guns appeals.

German Cano To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

German Cano made a return from injury against Dortmund as a substitute and then started against Ulsan, providing an assist. Before his injury, Cano had four goals in eight games for Fluminense and he can get back among the goals on Wednesday.

Mamelodi Sundowns vs Fluminense Predictions

  • Mamelodi have won just one of their last four games.
  • Fluminense are unbeaten in eight.
  • Fluminense have scored more than once in five of their last six games.

Fluminense can end Sundowns’ challenge

Fluminense and Mamelodi Sundowns face off in what is essentially an elimination game in Group F on Wednesday.

A point would be enough for Fluminense to progress, while the Sundowns need to win irrespective of the result in the other fixture between Dortmund and Ulsan if they are to reach the last 16.

Sundowns can strike in defeat

Fluminese are the clear favourites and deservedly so after two strong displays. The Brazilians were arguably unlucky to only take a point in a goalless draw with BVB and then showed their class with a dominant 4-2 over Ulsan, scoring three second half goals to fight back after trailing at the break.

Those performances suggest that Fluminense may be a bit too slick for Mamelodi, who ground out a 1-0 win over Ulsan before going down 4-3 to Dortmund, but the South African outfit can at least get on the scoresheet.

The Sundowns trailed BVB 4-1 but managed to fight back and nearly completed an unlikely comeback. They know only a win will do and will continue to attack even if they do fall two or three goals behind, while Fluminense have conceded in seven of their last 11 matches.

Cano can get off the mark

A 3-1 win for Fluminense is the correct score pick as the Serie A outfit have scored multiple goals in five of their last six games, and each of their last three wins have been by two-goal margins.

Veteran forward German Cano looks a decent candidate for an anytime effort after a strong display against Ulsan. The Argentine attacker made a return from injury against Dortmund as a substitute and then started against Ulsan, providing an assist. Before his injury, Cano had four goals in eight games for Fluminense and he can get back among the goals on Wednesday.
