Rennes 2-0

Reason for tip

Rennes beat Lyon 3-0 a month before Lens drew 0-0 with the same side, so they look capable of beating the visitors on that form. Rennes have scored two or more goals in seven of their last 10 home league games, but might have to settle for two against a solid defensive side that lack goal power themselves.

Ludovic Blas To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Rennes winger Ludovic Blas has scored in two of his last three Ligue 1 appearances. He managed double figures in Ligue 1 in back-to-back seasons a few years ago and seems to be returning to top form.

Rennes share the goals around

Rennes might just have too much potency for a Lens team that has been lacking the killer touch this season when the two clubs meet at Roazhon Park in Ligue 1 this weekend.

Julian Stephan’s side have won both of their previous home league games this term by the same emphatic scoreline – 3-0 – and do not rely on one or two players for their goals, which have been shared around seven different scorers already.

They have not beaten Lens in nine years, however, and not at home since 2014. Will Still is still getting to grips with his new squad, but the early signs have been promising for fans of Sang et Or.

Lukewarm Lens may struggle to score

Lens remain unbeaten and in fourth place in the table, but they could not find a goal in a  0-0 draw with Lyon last time out.

That is the second match in three where they have failed to score and it took a stoppage-time penalty for them to claim a 1-1 draw at Monaco when they did get on the scoresheet.

Right now, Lens cannot be trusted to score against a team who have kept back-to-back clean sheets at their place. The home team are a decent play at odds against in this spot and may be able to grab a 2-0 victory if they reprise the level of performance when they beat Lyon 3-0.
