Manchester City and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Manchester City are the form team with 11 wins in their last 12 games, while Arsenal have drawn their last three. City have beaten Arsenal twice this season and can make it three in a row – but as they have conceded in four of their last six and Arsenal have scored in 14 successive games a clean sheet may be beyond the defending champions.

Manchester City 3-1

Reason for tip

Arsenal have shipped eight goals across their last three games against far less effective attacking sides. City have scored at least three goals in seven of their last eight outings and exactly three in three of their last four. The hosts have also conceded exactly one goal in four of their last six, so a 3-1 win for the hosts looks a reasonable correct score prediction.

Fernando Gabriel Jesus To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Gabriel Jesus gets to face City for the first time since his summer exit having missed this season’s previous fixtures through injury. An Arsenal goal is expected and Jesus looks the most likely candidate, having struck four times in total across the last four games.

Manchester City vs Arsenal Predictions

  • Man City have beaten Arsenal twice this season already and have won each of the last seven meetings.
  • Arsenal have conceded eight goals across their last three games, all draws.
  • Arsenal have scored in their last 14 games.
  • Man City have 11 wins in their last 12, but have conceded in four of their last six fixtures.

Title on the line as City entertain Arsenal

Wednesday’s fixture between Manchester City and Arsenal could go a long way towards deciding where the Premier League title ends up this season as the defending champions entertain the current leaders.

The Gunners hold a five-point lead at the top but have played two games more, meaning victory would see them move eight points clear and would put their destiny firmly in their own hands. A win for City would give them a clear advantage, and a draw would still be viewed as a positive result given the fact they have played fewer games.

City the team in the ascendancy

Arsenal could, and probably should, have a virtually unassailable lead at this stage as they have dropped points in each of their last three games, having drawn with Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton.

The pressure is perhaps starting to have an impact on Mikel Arteta’s pacesetters as they managed to blow 2-0 leads against both Liverpool and the Hammers – although they did show real resolve to snatch a point against Southampton having trailed 2-0 and 3-1.

In contrast, City have been moving through the gears with 11 wins in their last 12 games, drawing with Bayern Munich in Germany having already built up a 3-0 first leg advantage. Pep Guardiola was able to rest a few key men at the weekend as Kevin De Bruyne was left on the bench for the 3-0 FA Cup win over Sheffield United, while Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish were withdrawn in the second half.

City won the reverse meeting 3-1 earlier in the season and also knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup. Indeed, the Mancunians have dominated this fixture in recent years – winning each of the last seven meetings between these two sides.

A home win stands out but is a short price, so for better value a City victory with both teams to score looks a good option. Arsenal have scored in each of their last 14 games and have only failed to score in three of their 22 games since the World Cup break, while City have conceded in four of their last six assignments.

Jesus can haunt former employers

As Arsenal have conceded eight goals across their last three games against teams with far less quality in attack a 3-1 win for the visitors is the correct score prediction.

However, as I’m expecting both teams to score it may pay off to back a Gunners player to score as there are better prices to be found for the visitors – and Gabriel Jesus is a clear contender.

The Brazilian has missed both meetings with his former employers through injury and will be desperate to make his mark at the Etihad Stadium. Jesus is a man in form with four goals in his last four appearances, only failing to score in one of those fixtures, so at a big price he appeals to add to his account on Wednesday.
