Mansfield Town vs Colchester United Predictions

Expectations at the start of the campaign are always set high for any team as they have had an off season improving the squad and their fans will no doubt believe that their side now has the missing ingredient which will thrust them up the league. This weekend sees two sides who will have expected to feature in the promotion challenge come the end of the campaign go head to head as Mansfield Town welcome Colchester United to Field Mill.

Mansfield Town have had a similar few seasons over the past couple of years as they have spent the summer recruiting solid players and most people believe they are strong enough to mount a title challenge, however, when a ball is kicked, things start to go wrong.

Given that we are still in the opening few months of the campaign, there is still plenty of time for the Stags to turn things around and with just 10 points separating them from the league leaders, the lead is not exactly insurmountable. However, they will know that they can ill afford to fall further behind and after scoring 11 times in their last four outings, they will be fully confident in their ability to find the back of the net.

The latest side to make the trip to Field Mill and to try and earn the three points is a Colchester United side who have a pretty similar record to their hosts in the opening months of the campaign. The visitors impressive 3-1 win over Newport last time out means that they have 23 points to their name and they know a further three points this weekend will put them in and amongst the top seven.

Both of these sides will be feeling confident after their recent improvements and both are expected to go for the win. The hosts are free scoring at the moment, but they have managed just one clean sheet in their last eight league matches. When you factor in that each of the previous three meetings between these two sides have finished with both sides finding the back of the net, we think that backing both teams to score represents the best opportunity for a decent return.

For those of you looking for a correct score tip, we have you covered too. The Stags are confident and in form, and with their impressive attacking output looking too hard to resist at the moment, our money is going on a 3-1 home win.
