Marseille to pile on more misery for derby rivals

Montpellier have endured a miserable Ligue 1 campaign and they will be put out of their misery sooner rather than later, with relegation all-but confirmed if results don’t go their way this weekend, and we predict more misery for the bottom side.

La Paillade have won just four matches all term and just one away from home in 14 attempts. Their current losing streak stands at ten straight matches and in nine of those they have failed to score. A Marseille win to nil is our confident prediction, although it may be best to expect a modest scoreline than the 5-0 that OM produced earlier in the campaign.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have hit the skids at just the wrong time of the season as they look to finish second behind recently-crowned champions PSG, and they were well beaten by top-three rivals Monaco 3-0 last week.

That was their fifth loss in their last seven outings and the goals have dried up too. Marseille have bagged just three times in their last five fixtures and just two of their last ten matches have featured over 2.5 goals.

We predict that the low-scoring nature of their fixtures could continue, and with Montpellier offering little in attack, a 2-0 home win looks a likely outcome.
