Marseille -1

Reason for tip

Marseille put Brest to the sword last week with a 5-1 win on the road and they can win with room to spare against Reims on Sunday.

Marseille 3-0

Reason for tip

L’OM only conceded 13 goals at the Velodrome in Ligue 1 last season, while Reims failed to muster a single attempt on target at Lille in their season opener. Marseille hit five against Brest and should be able to score a few here, so take a chance on a 3-0 win for the hosts.

de Lima Luis Henrique To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Luis Henrique struggled after joining Marseille from Botafogo midway through last season with just one goal in 15 games but the Brazilian was their star performer at Brest with two goals and he is the standout scorer pick.

Marseille vs Reims Predictions

  • Marseille crushed Brest 5-1 in their opener.
  • Reims lost 2-0 to Lille.
  • L’OM had Ligue 1’s second best home record last season.

Marseille looking to continue strong start

Roberto De Zerbi’s reign as Marseille boss began with a 5-1 demolition of Brest and they look well placed to back that up with another comfortable win over Reims.

L’OM were perhaps flattered by that scoreline but it was a thoroughly deserved win – while Reims had a tough start as they went down 2-0 at home to Lille, although they were reduced to 10 men early on.

Marseille may be under the guidance of a new boss but De Zerbi will be looking to continue the dominance his side showed at home last term. Les Phocéens finished in eighth spot overall but they had the second best home record in the division – and the Velodrome may prove to be a stronghold once again.

Reims failed to win any of their final five away games last season and that run included a 3-1 defeat at Strasbourg and a 4-1 loss at a Clermont side who finished the season in bottom place, as such backing Marseille to cover a -1 handicap looks the best option here for our main bet.

Luis Henrique struggled after joining Marseille from Botafogo midway through last season with just one goal in 15 games. The Brazilian has already doubled that tally for the current campaign after an excellent performance against Brest and he is the standout scorer pick.

An early red card proved a hammer blow for Reims as Amadou Kone was sent off for a challenge on Angel Gomes that resulted in extensive treatment and a lengthy stoppage against Lille. As such, it is hard to take too much from that performance but it is worth noting that they didn’t manage a single attempt on target. Marseille only conceded 13 goals at home last term and may be able to keep a shut-out here, so a 3-0 home win seems a reasonable correct score prediction.
