All is not well in Marseille camp

Despite securing a Champions League place last season, boss Jorge Sampaoli departed the club in the summer due to fears of a lack of transfer funding. All does not appear well at Marseille with new Head Coach Igor Tudor overseeing some abject pre-season performances coupled with a lack of new arrivals coming into the club. Marseille face an uphill battle this season if they are to compete on two fronts and Igor Tudor’s side have been afforded no easy task on opening day – it’s been six years since Marseille last beat Reims on home soil.

Reims will be a tough nut to crack

There were plenty of positives to take from Reims 12^th placed finished in Ligue 1 last season and fans of Les Rouge et Blancs can be optimistic heading into the 2022/23 campaign. Only two teams in Ligue 1 conceded fewer away goals than Reims last season (Marseille and Nice) and there is reason to believe Oscar Garcia’s side can cause the hosts some problems on Sunday. Reims took 13 points from their final six away matches of last season and they are unbeaten on this ground from their last four visits, a run which goes back to 2016. Reims appear to be overpriced here and will fancy their chances of leaving Stade Velodrome with at least a point.
