Mexico U23 vs Brazil U23 Predictions
- Brazil U23 are unbeaten in 2021 (Four wins, 1 Draw).
- Both teams have scored in five of their last six Mexico U23 matches.
Selecao slick enough to eliminate El Tri
Holders Brazil look the pick to take out 2012 Gold Medallists Mexico in the first semi-final at this year’s Olympic tournament on Tuesday.
Andre Jardine’s side have played solid tournament football to finish top of Group D and overcome a dangerous Egypt side in the quarter-finals.
The Pharoahs brought arguably the best-organised defence to the Games and conceded a total of one goal in three group games against Spain, Argentina and Australia.
But while Brazil had to stay patient to win that game 1-0, the matchup with Mexico is likely to be a very different affair.
El Tri are attack-minded and unafraid of allowing opponents to get at their back four, which should suit Brazil’s tricky trequartistas.
Mexico have conceded in all but one of their four competition matches and shipped three in a thrilling 6-3 QF win over South Korea, so it is hard to envisage them keeping Brazil out over 90 minutes.
We’re on board with the Selecao to avenge their Wembley defeat to Mexico in the 2012 final with both teams to score in the match because Brazil have not exactly been watertight at the back either.
The full-backs push on in search of goals and assists in the traditional Samba style, which should leave opportunities for Diego Lainez and Alexis Vega to get Mexico on the scoresheet in a 2-1 loss.
