      Middlesbrough vs Fulham Predictions

Boro were on a long winning run prior to a 2-0 defeat last time out at Reading and have looked like the strongest side in the division with some comprehensive victories including back-to-back 3-0 wins at home to Wolves and Leeds prior to that game. They trail early season leaders Brighton by 2 points but will move top if they win here and the Seagulls fail to win at Elland Road.

At the Riverside Middlesbrough are very strong and have lost only 4 times at home in 29 Championship outings since the start of last season. 4 of their 5 league home games this campaign have resulted in wins by 2 or more goals and they’ll be confident of another success here.

Inconsistency has been Fulham’s biggest problem but they are dangerous opponents on their day as they proved with a comprehensive 4-0 win at home to QPR at the end of last month. However they followed that up with a 3-0 defeat to Wolves also at Craven Cottage and conceded late on to draw at struggling Charlton last time out.

Only QPR have scored more goals than these two sides this season so we can expect to see plenty of goalmouth action in this game and goals at both ends seem likely. Middlesbrough’s loss at Reading was most likely just a blip and on home soil you always fancy them to get the job done.

Last season it was their defensive record that really fired them into a 3rd place finish but they’ve added a bit of creativity and goals with the likes of Stewart Downing and Christian Stuani joining and have been a bit more expansive this year, sometimes at the cost of conceding more.

Fulham are a naturally attacking side and are well capable of scoring in this game but it still may not be enough for them to get anything from it and Middlesbrough look really good value at 9/4 to win but also concede.

Boro have scored 3 goals at home on 4 occasions already this season and against a shaky Fulham defence a repeat could be on the cards and they are worth a punt at 11/1 to win this encounter 3-1.
