Middlesbrough vs Hull Predictions
Middlesbrough managed to avoid defeat away to the Premier League champions last weekend, but that single point will come as a bitter blow considering their performance. They were the better team throughout and twice led Leicester, only to drop points thanks to two silly penalties, the last of which was almost the final kick of the game to level the scores.
This does continue Middlesbrough’s promising progression. They have lost just one of their last five outings, and despite only winning one of them it’s an excellent achievement considering they have faced trips to Arsenal, Manchester City, and Leicester during this period and hosted Chelsea.
Not only has this got a lot of the really tough fixtures out of the way with minimal harm, but it’s allowed them to clear the relegation zone and they now sit in 15th position.
Until last weekend Alvaro Negredo hadn’t scored since the opening day of the campaign in what was turning out to be a miserable spell in Middlesbrough. But the opening goal from him was followed by a second, and now the Spaniard has found his feet at the Riverside I think he’s a good option for the anytime goalscorer predictions at odds of 7/5.
Middlesbrough have only kept two clean sheets in their last ten outings though, so Hull have a chance to add to their goals tally here. Robert Snodgrass is who they will call upon. The winger has scored six goals in all competitions this season and is Hull’s star player, so he looks a good choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions at huge odds of 4/1.
It was Snodgrass who got Hull’s only goal of the game in midweek as they somehow held on to a draw after extra time against the dominant Newcastle before winning on penalties. This has set them up for a League Cup semi final clash with Manchester United, although Hull have still only won two of their last ten in normal time.
Away from home Hull have lost four of their last five and conceded a ridiculous 16 goals in the process, so Middlesbrough have a real chance to capitalise on their renewed form on Monday. I think the hosts will take all three points, so I’m backing a Middlesbrough Win at 5/6 alongside a 2-1 correct score prediction at 17/2.
