Middlesbrough vs Leeds Predictions
It’s normally quite difficult at this stage of the season to predict a likely Championship winner but already you have to say that Middlesbrough are looking very good and have the potential to dominate this division this year. They are strong at the back, very difficult to beat especially at the Riverside and possess enough creativity and strike power to suggest they could be the outstanding side in the league.
Leeds or indeed or any side that visits will find it tough going but Bristol City have already upset Boro at the Riverside this season so it’s not a completely impossible task. The Yorkshire club have made a very solid start to life under Uwe Rosler, losing only once so far in the Championship although solid would be the word rather than spectacular.
They do have reason to be optimistic here though and they’ve won their last two Championship away games at Derby and MK Dons and are unbeaten on the road since April. Indeed their away form in all of 2015 has been excellent. They’ve picked up 7 Championship wins away from Elland Road this calendar year, losing just 3 times and only once by more than a single goal.
Therefore Leeds will come here with no pressure but a fair amount of belief that they can achieve a result. Boro made it 6 wins in a row in midweek with a convincing Capital One Cup win over Wolves but with 2 games virtually every week at the moment they will struggle to keep putting in performances of that level and just a slight drop could allow a well-drilled Leeds side, who’ve had a week off to get something.
Therefore consider backing Leeds + 1 Goal in the Asian Handicap market at 2.075. They aren’t likely to have enough to win the game but as the division’s draw specialists they are better equipped than most to end Middlesbrough’s winning run and secure a 5th 1-1 draw of the season already at 7/1.
