      Middlesbrough to Win

      Reason for tip

Results have been polar opposite for Middlesbrough and Sheffield United in the opening weeks of the new campaign, with Boro winning all three league fixtures and United losing all of theirs. The Blades have failed to score in their last two outings, both 1-0 losses against Swansea and Millwall, and they are fancied to leave the Riverside empty-handed too.

      Middlesbrough 2-0

      Reason for tip

Middlesbrough have made a flying start to the season, winning all three Championship matches, and they have scored six goals across that trio of victories. They look set to be too strong for Sheffield United and a 2-0 win looks well within reach at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday.

      Middlesbrough vs Sheffield United Predictions

      • Sheffield United have lost their last five matches, including all four this term
      • Middlesbrough have won all three league fixtures this season, scoring six times in the process
      • United have won just two of their last six meetings with Middlesbrough

Blades struggling to shake-off playoff hangover

Sheffield United lost last season’s Championship playoff final in agonising fashion and the hangover from that last-minute loss to Sunderland at Wembley is proving hard to shake off.

The Blades have lost all four matches in all competitions this term, and we predict another defeat for Ruben Selles’ beleaguered side.

United are rock-bottom of the Championship after three matches, but in contrast Middlesbrough are flying high following three straight wins.

Back-to-back away wins at Millwall and Norwich mean Boro are top of the pile alongside Stoke who have also won all three matches, and Middlesbrough’s position could become even rosier after this contest.

Rob Edwards has made an impressive start to life in the Riverside hotseat and his side have scored six goals across their opening three league matches.

That suggests they can score at least twice back on home soil, so a 2-0 correct-score is our prediction in this match.

Boro put three past Millwall a fortnight ago, and followed it up with a brace at Norwich last Saturday, so the home faithful should get plenty to cheer when their team return home this weekend.
