Middlesbrough vs West Ham Predictions

Middlesbrough managed to pull off another defensive masterclass last weekend as they held Watford to a goalless draw at Vicarage Road. This extends their unbeaten streak to three matches in all competitions, with them keeping a clean sheet in all of those.

However, their lack of confidence going forward has led to a lot of dropped points, and draws alone aren’t usually enough to keep you in the Premier League. They sit in a rather perilous 16th position in the table, with four points separating them from the drop zone.

Looking at their longer term form it’s not really a surprise they are struggling in the table. They have won just one of their last seven in the Premier League, and whilst two of their four defeats did come against Liverpool and Manchester United they will be disappointed at not getting anything from Burnley and only drawing against Leicester at home.

At the Riverside things do start to look up though, with three wins, one draw, and two defeats from their last six league games there. Their defeats were against Chelsea and Liverpool too, which are completely understandable.

West Ham managed to break out of their losing streak last weekend even without the petulant Dimitri Payet. The French playmaker has refused to play for the Hammers and demanded a transfer, but that didn’t stop them from claiming a 3-0 win at home to Crystal Palace thanks to a masterclass of assists from Michail Antonio.

This makes it four wins and three defeats in West Ham’s last seven outings in all competitions, but away from home they have only won one of their last seven in all competitions and find themselves in 12th position in the Premier League.

Middlesbrough’s solid defence and lacklustre attack makes both teams finding the net a rarity. Each of the last seven home games for Middlesbrough have seen at least one clean sheet, so backing Both Teams Not to Score at 4/5 looks a good choice along with another goalless draw at 15/2 for our correct score predictions.
