Millwall vs Bradford Predictions

A 13th minute penalty for Bradford City got the ball rolling in the first leg of this playoff final. Anthony McMahon stepped up to slot the spot kick home, but this only served to spur Millwall on, who equalised through Lee Gregory two minutes later and then went on to score a header and an excellent free kick before half time to give the visitors a commanding lead.

Bradford City looked the more likely to make something happen in the second half, but Millwall held on and now take a comfortable lead back to The Den. This was their 5th win on the bounce, a run which helped them leapfrog Bradford City in the final weeks of the season.

Millwall ended the season in 4th, four points adrift of an automatic promotion spot and six points inside the playoff zone as they look for a swift return to the Championship after their relegation last season. If they can hold on to their lead on Friday, it looks like they will be facing Barnsley in the playoff final. The 6th place finishers are 3-0 up after the first leg of their tie with Walsall.

Bradford City’s defeat to Millwall ended their three match winning streak that they enjoyed in the closing stages of the League One season, but it was a defeat to Coventry and a draw to Shrewsbury just before this run which allowed Millwall to overtake them in the table.

These two poor results both came away from home, taking their record on the road to two wins, two draws, and two defeats in their last six trips away. This doesn’t bode well for Bradford City, and it gets even worse when you learn that Millwall have won six games on the trot at The Den and haven’t lost in eight games.

Millwall’s home form of late has been excellent at both ends of the pitch. They have kept seven clean sheets in their last eight home games and scored an impressive 16 goals at the other end. Bradford City have managed just three goals in their last six away days, but have kept three clean sheets themselves during that run.

This makes odds of 17/20 for Both Teams Not to Score look excellent value for money. Millwall won’t be going all out for the win in this one, so a 1-0 Millwall Win looks good at 6/1.
