Millwall to Win

Reason for tip

Millwall have won six of their last eight home league matches and had better xG numbers than Watford in a recent 3-2 defeat at The Den too. Meanwhile, Luton have lost three of their four away league games this season and failed to score in both of their away trips.

Millwall 2-1

Reason for tip

Millwall have scored multiple goals in both of their home league matches this term, but Luton have only shipped more than once in one game – the 4-1 home loss to Burnley. Backing the Lions to bag twice only seems fair while the Hatters might be able to scrape a goal back if their forwards rediscover their scoring form.

Duncan Watmore To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Duncan Watmore has scored four goals in four Championship appearances this season. The attacker is forming a good understanding with ex-Middlesbrough teammate Josh Coburn up front.

Millwall misery for Edwards

Millwall is one of the last places a struggling Luton side would choose to go to at the moment and their prospects of avoiding defeat at the Den on Saturday look slim.

The Hatters have lost three of their four league games this term and failed to score in each of their two Championship away games. Admittedly there are a few injuries in the camp and one or two key players left in the summer, but Rob Edwards kept hold of both of his main strikers from last season and does not appear to have an answer for why they have begun so badly.

Luton were booed off by their fans after a 2-1 home defeat to Queens Park Rangers before the international break and the head coach may soon be feeling some pressure from above if he is not already.

Lions strikeforce has teeth

The mood in the Millwall camp is buoyant after they went into the break on the back of a 3-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday. Josh Coburn bagged on his Lions debut – a goal set up by hid former Middlesbrough teammate Duncan Watmore.

The pair have the makings of a very good partnership for Millwall and will surely get another chance to dovetail in the absence of injured forward Tom Bradshaw.  Watmore has scored four goals in his last four Championship appearances and seems worth backing to maintain his scoring streak.

Millwall are also backable at around 8/5 for the win given they have won six of their last eight home Championship matches. They were the better side in a recent 3-2 Den defeat to Watford too, according to expected goals, so should be shorter in the match result market by my reckoning.
