Monaco can make home firepower count

Monaco look the likely winners when they host Angers at Stade Louis II on Saturday. The visitors have been poor on the road this season, with just two wins in 11 away games, and Monaco are in good form.

They are eighth in Ligue 1, four places above Angers, with the two sides separated by five points. Monaco have ten wins, four draws and nine defeats, while Angers have won eight, drawn five and lost ten of their 23 games this season.

Monaco maintained their winning habit with a 3-2 victory away to Lens, fighting back from a goal down at half time. Folarin Balogun, Denis Zakaria and Ansu Fati all scored for Monaco, who will have been pleased with the three points having been priced at 17/5 to win the game.

Monaco will expect to get on the scoresheet, having found the net at least three times in three of their last four Ligue 1 games. They have been impressive in front of goal at home this season, scoring 25 goals in 12 games – an average of 2.08 goals per game.

They are in fine fettle. They have won three of their last four Ligue 1 matches and are going for a third successive win at home.

Angers are enduring a rough spell, with their last two Ligue 1 games both ending in defeat. They have now gone three away matches without a win on the road.

Goals have not been easy to come by for Angers this season. They have now sustained two straight Ligue 1 reverses without scoring and have been disappointing in front of goal away from home, with just six goals in 11 games – an average of 0.55 goals a game on the road.

Angers have played five successive games in Ligue 1 with fewer than three goals and, with three of Monaco’s ten successes this season coming by two goals, a 2-0 home win looks the best correct-score option.
