Angers to Test Monaco’s Resolve

Monaco strolled to 3pts in midweek when they made the trip to Lorient. Disasi, Golovin, Volland, Diop and Maripan all got on the scoreboard as Monaco ran out 5-2 winners. Angers pulled off a shock win on Wednesday night as they got the better of high-flying Lille. Thomas scored twice in the opening 10-minutes to stun the home fans and although Lille pulled a goal back before the break, Angers held on to secure an impressive 3pts.

Monaco and Angers sit neck and neck on 30pts in Ligue 1, so we’re expecting a close and competitive 90-minutes between the pair on Saturday. The last four encounters between the duo have been tight and tense, with no more than one goal separating the two clubs.

Angers have only suffered one defeat in their last four games against Monaco and have picked up two draws and a win during that period. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in four of the duo’s last six meetings in Ligue 1, so there is no guarantee we will be treated to an abundance of goals this weekend.

The visitors head into Saturday’s clash as the form favourites with three wins, one draw and two defeats from their last six fixtures. Monaco are unbeaten in their last three games but lost their previous three games before that. Angers will be confident of coming away with at least a point and possibly all three this weekend, as the visitors are unbeaten in their last six away games.

We’re backing Angers with a double chance bet and have predicted a final scoreline of 1-1 as the visitors have drawn two of their last three away trips and Monaco have only lost once at home this season.
