Tip Reasoning

  • Both teams have scored in four of Monaco’s last five league matches.
  • Both teams have scored in four of Angers’ last five league matches.
  • Angers have scored five goals and conceded six times in their last three away games.

Monaco missing key men for Angers clash

Monaco will miss three key starters when they entertain Angers on Sunday, but the Champions-League chasing hosts should still have to much for the struggling visitors. Star midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, right-back Vanderson and central defender Axel Disasi are the unlucky three to miss out through suspension while Angers will be without top scorer Sofiane Boufal, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Boufal’s absence will be tough for the Black and Whites to overcome as he had scored three in five just before his injury and Angers have only won one of the six games he has not started this term. But they did score twice without him at Clermont Foot last time out to claim a draw that keeps them a couple of points ahead of their relegation rivals.

Both teams have scored in four of Angers’ last five league matches and, likewise, in four of the Monagasques’ last five contests. Backing BTTS here will probably come down to whether Gérald Baticle’s side can find a way past the fourth-best defence in Ligue 1, but there’s hope when two of Monaco’s regular back four are missing.

Goals at both ends, but hosts have too much

Prospects for an end-to-end clash are slim, but Angers have scored five goals and conceded six times in their last three away games, so an ‘overs’ play also looks to have potential.

Monaco should win this – even if we think they are too skinny to back at 2/5 in match result betting – and are taken to prevail 2-1 as a correct score play. Angers’ defensive frailties were laid bare by Clermont last weekend when they couldn’t hold a two goal lead for the win against the 17th-placed hosts, so Monaco will surely have enough goal power for three points.
