Montreal Impact vs Seattle Sounders Predictions

Montreal Impact and Seattle Sounders have both enjoyed positive starts to the new MLS season, but their form has been inconstant of late and the teams below them have started to close the gap. The host’s cant drop any lower in the table even with a defeat on Thursday, but New York City could close the gap to just a point on the Canadians. Seattle Sounders could drop down to fourth in the Western Conference with a defeat in Canada, as Houston Dynamo are only two points behind them and have two games in hand.

Montreal Impact might have had more of the overall possession at home to Orlando City last time out, but three first half goals for the visitors ended this tie as a contest at the halfway point. The second forty-five failed to produce any goals for either side and Orlando City claimed a rare, and comfortable, 3-0 away win. Two own goals from Arreaga and Smith saw Seattle Sounders head in at the break 2-0 down away at Dallas, and despite pulling a goal back through Ruidiaz with twenty-five minutes still to play the visitors lost the game 2-1.

The recent head to head record between these two clubs, their performances in the MLS over the last few weeks, and the fact both teams are without key players due to injury and international duty, we believe Thursday’s match will produced under 2.5 goals and likely end goalless. Five of the last six meetings between these two clubs have produced under 2.5 goals, and both teams have scored in just one of the last six encounters between the pair. Montreal Impact have failed to score in two of their last three home games, and under 2.5 goals have been scored in three of Seattle Sounders’ last six matches. Both teams have only managed to win two of their last six matches in the MLS and have players out injured and away on international duty, which is why we are backing a bore draw on Thursday.

Midfielder Taïder top scores for the hosts with five MLS goals this season, while Ruidiaz leads the way for Seattle Sounders with six, but wont feature due to being away with the Peru squad. We’re confident that under 2.5 goals will be scored on Thursday, and have predicted a final scoreline of 0-0. Both teams have been struggling for form of late, but have played to a very similar standard this season. Players from both teams are injured and away on international duty, and we think think will have a big effect on the fluidity of the match and lead to the game ending goalless.
