      Tip Reasoning

Part of the interest of the new season is watching the progress of the sides which are new to the division, will the relegated sides continue their descent and will the promoted sides be able to adapt to the new level or will they find things a bit tougher than they might have expected? This weekend sees two sides face off who have contrasting expectations for the season as relegation candidates Morecambe welcome a Salford City side who will be hoping they can continue their rise up the leagues.

Many people, including us, have tipped Morecambe to be one of the sides who will drop out of the Football League this season, and judging from their early season form, they are in for a battle to prove us wrong.

The visitors claimed a win over Macclesfield a few weeks ago but that is their only victory of the season so far and they know that they need to go on a strong run of results in order to give them as much room as possible over the bottom two.

Things have not exactly gone to plan so far for Salford City as, although they are in the Football League for the first time in their history, they will no doubt have expected to start the season strongly as they bid to continue their progression through the leagues.

Backed by the “Class of ’92”, the hosts have plenty of money in the bank and have had major investment both on and off the field. However, their win on the opening day of the season is the only time they have claimed three points in the league this season and although they are not a million miles away from a more dominant showing, they will know that they need to up their game in order to get in the promotion picture.

The hosts will be fighting for their lives and are well versed in having to scrap to get enough points on the board, however, they have plenty of frailties at the back and have the joint second worst defensive record in the division. Given that their visitors have plenty of problems keeping clean sheets of their own, we think that backing both teams to score represents the best chance of a decent return.

It is a sentiment which is also followed with our tip for the correct score and we simply cannot ignore the fact that Salford have drawn their last four league matches. Therefore, our tip for the correct score backers is for the match to finish in a 1-1 stalemate.
