Netherlands vs Estonia Predictions
Netherlands play host to Estonia at the famous Johan Cruijff Arena on Tuesday evening. After securing their place in the top two, the hosts will be hoping to win the group. By contrast, having endured a poor campaign, the Estonians have no chance of qualifying.
By drawing with Northern Ireland on Saturday evening, Netherlands secured their place at Euro 2020, which means they no longer need to get anything from this match. That said, Oranje will still want to treat the expectant crowd in Johan Cruijff Arena to a win, while they still have a chance of winning the group.
They did lose to Germany at this venue, going down by three goals to two, but their overall efforts at home have been pleasing. Netherlands made light work of beating Belarus by four goals to nil, while they beat Northern Ireland by three goals to one at this venue. Estonia failed to beat either of those teams away from home, drawing 0-0 with Belarus and losing 2-0 in Northern Ireland, so Ronald Koeman’s men will undoubtedly fancy themselves to record a simple victory on Tuesday evening.
Predictably, Estonia have struggled in Group C. Being chucked in with both Germany and Netherlands was always going to be hard, and they’ve naturally come up short against such teams, though it’s not as if they’ve performed well against the lesser teams. In four matches against Belarus and Northern Ireland, Estonia recorded three losses and a draw, scoring two goals and conceding six in the process.
When this pair met in the reverse fixture in Tallinn, Netherlands recorded an uncomplicated 4-0 win. On that occasion, the Estonians were unable to compete defensively, while their attacking efforts were virtually non-existent, as they mustered just a single shot in 93 minutes of football.
In the betting, ‘Netherlands to Score Over 4.5 Goals’ catches the eye. This was a mismatch when the teams met in the reverse fixture and it will be a mismatch when they meet on Tuesday. They may have scored only four in the reverse fixture, but Koeman’s men, who rattled off 20 shots, 10 of which hit the target, could’ve easily had two or three more. In front of a home crowd, the hosts are backed to hand out a real battering. After all, Estonia shipped eight when they recently visited the Germans, while they’ve also conceded five or more away against Portugal, Bosnia and Belgium over the last few years.
