New England Revolution vs Orlando City Predictions

New England Revolution kicked their MLS campaign off with a cracker of a match as they drew 3-3 with Houston Dynamo thanks to a 93rd minute goal from New England’s Daigo Kobayashi.

They went on to draw two and lose one of their next three matches before picking up their first win of the season at home to the out of form New York Red Bulls. However, that was their first and only win of the season so far, with three draws against Toronto, Orlando City, and Portland Timbers and a defeat to DC United giving them a grand total of nine points from nine games.

This puts them in 6th position in the MLS Eastern Conference, but every other team in the conference has at least one game in hand on them. As far as points per game goes, they are 8th in the league.

Orlando City’s points per game average is looking slightly healthier, and their nine point return from seven games puts them up in 4th position. But the visitors form has dipped a bit in recent weeks.

After finishing 7th in the MLS Eastern Conference last year, narrowly missing out on the playoffs in their debut season, they were feeling rather hopeful as they went unbeaten for their opening four games of this season. They drew against Real Salt Lake and Chicago Fire before beating New York City and Portland Timbers.

But they have only managed one point from their last three matches, losing to Philadelphia Union and New York Red Bulls and drawing against this weekend’s opponents.

New England Revolution seem to be keeping quite a tight ship at the Gillette Stadium this season. They may be struggling to win, but they have only conceded two goals in their four home matches so far. They have only scored three though, meaning that none of their home games this season have seen more than two goals. Orlando City are missing their star striker Cyle Larin as well, so they could struggle to break down New England’s defence.

This makes odds of 21/20 for Under 2.5 Goals look very valuable indeed, and I’m going to back a tightly contested 1-0 win for New England Revolution at 7/1 as well.
