Newcastle -1

Reason for tip

Newcastle crushed Sheffield United 8-0 last weekend and followed that up with a midweek EFL Cup victory over Manchester City. The Magpies have hit form, and can win with room to spare against a Burnley outfit who have just one point to show from five league games.

Newcastle 3-0

Reason for tip

Newcastle have managed four clean sheets in a row across all competitions and are facing a Burnley outfit who have scored just four goals in five league games. A win to nil for the hosts looks likely, and as Burnley have conceded at least three goals in three of their games a 3-0 victory stands out.

Anthony Gordon To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Anthony Gordon had what may well of been his best game since joining Newcastle in the thrashing of Sheffield United and he appeals as a potential scorer. Gordon registered a goal and an assist against the Blades, and has two goals so far after six Premier League games.

Newcastle vs Burnley Predictions

  • Newcastle won 8-0 at Sheffield United last week.
  • Burnley have four defeats in five games, three of which have been by two or more goals.
  • Liverpool and Arsenal are the only visiting teams to win at St James’ Park in 2023.

Buoyant Newcastle entertain Burnley

Newcastle are flying right now after crushing Sheffield United 8-0 and ending Manchester City’s unbeaten record, and they should have far too much for visitors Burnley on Saturday.

The Clarets have competed well in most of their games but have just one point on the board after five games and their winless start is likely to extend beyond this weekend.

Magpies can win with room to spare

Newcastle are a short price to simply win so backing the hosts to cover a -1 handicap looks a good option here.

Eddie Howe’s side dismantled Sheffield United 8-0 in South Yorkshire last weekend and then claimed an impressive 1-0 win over Manchester City in the EFL Cup in midweek.

Three of Burnley’s four losses have come by two or more goals, and they could well be in line for a tough afternoon at St James’ Park.

Gordon a goal contender

Howe has tended to rotate strikers Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak, with the latter playing in the bigger games, so as a bit of an outside candidate Anthony Gordon appeals for a possible scorer.

Gordon produced an excellent display against the Blades, registering a goal and an assist, and has two goals so far after six Premier League games.

A 3-0 win for Newcastle is the correct score prediction as they have kept clean sheets in each of their last four games, while Burnley conceded three goals against City and Aston Villa and lost by a three-goal margin against Tottenham.
