Nottingham Forest vs Sunderland Predictions
- Forest have failed to score in four of their last six home matches
- Four of Sunderland’s last five games have featured fewer than three goals
- The Tricky Trees have won just two of their last 11 Premier League matches
Forest still getting used to life under Ange
Nottingham Forest are going through a transition as they adjust to life under new manager Ange Postecoglou and their wait for their first win under the Australian could go on as they entertain Premier League new boys Sunderland on Saturday.
There were echoes of the drama that tended to follow their new manager during his time at Tottenham when the Tricky trees were stung by two injury-time goals by Championship Swansea in the EFL Cup, and draws against Burnley and Real Betis in their first European game since 1996 mean that fist victory has so far proved illusive.
We should witness a Forest team that are a lot more adventurous than they were under Postecoglou’s predecessor Nuno Espirito Santo and as they look to improve upon a home record that has seen them score in just two of their last six matches on the banks of the River Trent, visitors Sunderland may fancy their chances of gaining a positive result.
Black Cats could enjoy City Ground trip
Many believed the Black Cats would be whipping boys in this season’s top flight after they regained their Premier League place with a playoff victory over Sheffield United, but the Wearsiders have been competitive upon they return to the big time.
An opening 3-0 victory at home to West Ham was an excellent result even if the Hammers’ worries have deepened in the meantime, and while Sunderland followers will be anxious for them to score their first goal on the road, a goalless draw at FA Cup winners Sunderland was a fine result.
So it could be a good time for them to be playing a team getting used to a new regime and there looks to be some value in backing the draw in Saturday’s City Ground clash with a 1-1 scoreline of potential interest to correct-score punting enthusiasts.
Hudson-Odoi could make his mark
Those looking for an anytime-goalscorer interest are pointed towards Forest’s Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The former Chelsea wideman could be one who embraces the more attacking style that Postecoglou is set to initiate t forest and he has already shown he is in the hunt for goal after having two shots in a 29-minute substitute performance against Swansea and then had two attempts on target in their 2-2 draw at Real Betis.
He clearly has his eye in and this could be the week that he adds to the goal he scored in Forest’s 1-1 draw at Palace in their second game of the season.
