Oldham vs Lincoln City Predictions

The League Two title race may still be in it’s earlier stages, but already we are at a stage where a side can ill-afford to drop any points and where a point away from home may not be enough for a side to see its way to the title. This Tuesday evening Oldham Athletic welcome one of the sides challenging for the title as Lincoln City come to town.

It has been a period of transition for the hosts since they were relegated from League One last season, and although the target will be for an immediate return to England’s third tier, they will be satisfied with the work they have done so far. The hosts will need to work on their consistency if they are able to climb the table, as a win over Cambridge United a few weeks ago was sandwiched between draws with Notts County and Tranmere Rovers.

Making the trip to Boundary Park is a Lincoln City side who, despite leading the way at the top of League Two, have been a little off the boil in their recent outings. The Imps did see off a resurgent Northampton Town a few weeks ago and they were unlucky when a late equaliser prevented them from claiming all three points against local rivals and in form Mansfield Town at the weekend. However, the Imps have the joint second best away record in League Two as well as the second best offensive record and third best defensive record, so they should be fully confident in their ability to claim the win.

Oldham may be a tough nut to crack, but there have been a few suggestions to show that Lincoln are starting to re-capture the sort of form which put them at the top of the league in the first place. Given that when the Imps are on song, there are few in League Two which can live with them, we think that backing a Lincoln win is the only way to go in this fixture.
