Olympiacos vs Slovan Bratislava Predictions

  • Slovan Bratislava have seen over 2.5 goals scored in each of their last five games, during which the net was hit 21 times in total.
  • Olympiacos, meanwhile, have seen a minimum of three goals netted in five of their last eight competitive matches.
  • The Greek giants have scored two or more goals in each of the teams’ previous four head-to-head clashes
  • The visitors scored a massive 71 goals in 32 league games last season.

Entertainment likely in Athens

Each of Olympiacos and Slovan Bratislava dropped into the Europa League qualifiers after heavy home defeats in the Champions League; the Greek giants going down 4-0 to Maccabi Haifa after a 1-1 away draw, while the Slovakians squandered a first-leg lead as they were thrashed 4-1 by Ferencvaros. With both desperate to atone, Thursday’s meeting should provide entertainment.

Having also endured a worrying pre-season in which they won just two out of eight friendlies, Olympiacos have not enjoyed a strong start to Carlos Corberan’s reign, and have now won one of their last six competitive matches. Meanwhile, over 2.5 goals have now been scored in five of their last eight games, a worrying sign for a previously rock-solid defensive outfit.

Slovan Bratislava, meanwhile, have seen 21 goals scored across their last five matches, each of which contained at least three goals. The Slovakian champions, who netted a huge 71 goals in 32 league games last season, have now seen over 2.5 goals scored in 12 of their last 15 games, and have recent history of competing with Olympiacos, claiming a 2-2 draw against them in August 2021.

Over 2.5 goals looks a strong play

Given the unpredictable nature of Olympiacos under a new coach as well as both teams’ strong attacking returns, backing a minimum of three goals to be netted in the Greek capital looks a strong play.

Meanwhile, Slovan Bratislava’s 2-1 win at Ferencvaros last month demonstrated their ability to compete at this level, and another 2-2 thriller could be on the cards.
