Paris Saint Germain vs Nice Predictions
You can’t really blame Paris Saint Germain players to struggle to motivate themselves in Ligue 1 now. They have been crowned champions of France already and there are still seven ultimately pointless games for them to play in the league, with them providing somewhat of an unwelcome distraction from the Champions League.
This showed as they lost 2-0 at home to Monaco before the international break, with that being their first competitive defeat at the Parc des Princes since last April and their first in Ligue 1 since May 2014.
This made it three wins, one draw, and two defeats in their last six outings in all competitions, and with the first leg of their Champions League tie with Manchester City coming up on Wednesday I think we could see a lot of squad rotation on Saturday.
Nice are coming into this match having won their last three matches in Ligue 1, putting them in an impressive 3rd position in Ligue 1. They only have a one point advantage over Lyon in 4th though and a defeat could send them down to 5th. However, the five point gap between them and Monaco above them isn’t insurmountable by any means.
Away from home they do struggle though. Their win against Montpellier a few weeks ago was their first away victory in nine outings in all competitions. Nice do tend to play quite defensively on the road, meaning they have only lost three of these nine matches and have only seen three or more goals in one of the matches.
Paris Saint Germain have failed to score in three of their last five home matches as well, and coupled with the likely rotation of the squad I think this could be a low scoring match. Odds of 17/20 for Under 2.5 Goals looks really good value, and I’m backing that alongside a goalless draw at 9/1.
