Both Teams To Score - No

Reason for tip

Both teams have failed to score in seven of Cardiff’s last nine home league games. Both teams have failed to score in 11 of Preston’s last 13 away Championship contests while North End remain the only Championship club yet to concede in 2022-23.

Draw 0-0

Reason for tip

Cardiff have kept clean sheets in both of their home league games while Preston are yet to concede a league goal this season. Bluebirds boss Steve Morison was scathing in his criticism of his strikers after Sunday’s Severnside derby loss to Bristol City and now has to lift his forwards’ flagging confidence in time for Saturday’s date with Preston.

Cardiff vs Preston Predictions

  • Both teams have failed to score in seven of Cardiff’s last nine home league games.
  • Both teams have failed to score in 11 of Preston’s last 13 away Championship contests.
  • Cardiff have kept clean sheets in both of their home league games while Preston are yet to concede a league goal this season.

Cardiff clash hardly dripping with goals

Preston have not conceded in the Championship this season and Cardiff can’t seem to score right now, so  Saturday’s clash in the Welsh capital is unlikely to be dripping with goals.

North End’s run of five straight league clean sheets is impressive – even though it has led to only one win and four draws. Ryan Lowe’s team are organised and tough to break down, they even create chances too but haven’t been collectively been good enough in their finishing.

Cardiff have also managed two clean sheets from two at home, winning both games 1-0 in efficient fashion. Steve Morison was scathing in his criticism of his strikers after Sunday’s Severnside derby loss to Bristol City in which both Max Watters and sub Mark Harris were denied in one-on-one situations with Robins keeper Dan Bentley.

Bluebirds boss has vented frustration at forwards

Morison’s post-match frustration was understandable, but he now has to lift his forwards’ flagging confidence in time for Saturday’s date with Preston – or sign a new striker. The under 2.5 goal price for the game is very short and offers little real value, but there’s still some juice in the ‘both teams to score – no’ option.

Both teams have failed to score in seven of Cardiff’s last nine home league games and also in 11 of Preston’s last 13 away Championship contests. The Bluebirds are at least still creating chances and it may only need the ball to bounce their way to get things going again up front.

Preston scored in their midweek Carabao Cup loss at Wolves – although the match will have taken something out of a few of their regulars. A 0-0 draw is the preferred correct score play here then as neither club can be trusted to break the deadlock in their current states.
