Perth Glory vs Western Sydney Wanderers Predictions

      • Perth Glory picked up just their second win of the season last weekend, an impressive 3-0 victory at Melbourne City.
      • Western Sydney Wanderers continued their awful form, losing 2-1 to Wellington Phoenix, their fourth loss in a row.
      • Perth Glory have scored and conceded 10 goals this season, struggling to live up to their Premiers Plate win from last campaign.
      • Western Sydney are clinging onto sixth place at the moment but extending their poor form would see them drop out of the play-off places.

Have things finally turned around for Perth Glory?

It’s not been the best season for Perth Glory so far, as they struggle to live up to their incredible Premiers Plate win from last season, despite strengthening their side with Bruno Fornaroli. The striker is starting to show what made him the quickest player to 50 goals in the A-League, with four goals so far this term.

Tony Popovic will be hoping last weekend was a turning point and will be looking for his players to take advantage of Western Sydney’s poor run, and post another win as they look to jump into the play-offs and feature in the Finals Series once again.

How long can the Wanderers’ bad run last?

Four losses in a row is a bad return for any club but after their positive start to the season, where they won their first three games, this poor form has hit Western Sydney harder than most. There have been increased calls for Markus Babbel to be relieved of his position but those seem to be a little premature despite the recent results.

The Wanderers have continued scoring at a similar rate, averaging 1.25 goals per game in their first four games and 1 goal a game in their most recent four. But their problems lie at the other end of the pitch, where they have conceded 2.25 goals per game in the last four weeks, compared to just 0.5 goals per game in the opening four weeks.

Can Wanderers travel west and claim a win?

This looks like a hard task for Western Sydney Wanderers, with a long trip west to visit a rejuvenated Perth Glory side, and we’re of the opinion  it will be a bad trip for the Sydney side. We’re predicting a Perth Glory outright win.

There doesn’t look like there is much in the game, however, and we think it will be decided by a slender margin. We’re therefore backing the home side to sneak a 1-0 victory over their rivals.
