Preston to punish unreliable Robins

It was an extremely tough start to the new campaign for Frankie McAvoy’s Preston as they lost their first three games. Since then they’ve gone six games unbeaten, winning three of them. Four of their eight league games so far have also seen at least three goals and we’re backing this one to be high scoring too

The visitors have seen both teams score in seven of their eight league games so far this term and the Robins, despite sitting 9th, have conceded the fourth-most goals in the league so far.
They are woeful at defending set-pieces. Four of their 11 goals conceded in the league so far have come from set-piece situations and this is something Preston can exploit.

This is the first time in 22 attempts that Cheltenham have advanced past the second round of this competition after winning a penalty shootout against Gillingham. None of the last five teams playing their first-ever third-round tie in the EFL Cup have progressed to the last 16.

Emil Riis Jakobsen has scored three goals in Preston’s first two League Cup games and he looks set to start here, with McAvoy likely to name a strong starting eleven in an attempt to build a bit of momentum. We’re expecting the hosts to make light work of this Cheltenham team who concede an alarming number of goals.
