PSV vs Groningen Predictions
- PSV have won eight of their ten home Eredivisie games, five by more than one goal
- Groningen have lost seven of their last eight league games, losing by more than a goal in two of the last five.
- Anwar El Ghazi has scored on his last two appearances for PSV
Easy win in store for PSV
PSV can run out comfortable winners over a Groningen side on the brink of implosion when they clash at Philips Stadion this weekend. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side were denied a win that would have boosted their title chances by Feyenoord’s comeback at the weekend as the leaders capitalised on a red card to draw level.
The Eindhoven club should have far too much quality to let any points slip against Dennis van der Ree’s struggling outfit, who ended an eight-game losing run with a 1-1 home draw against Twente on Sunday.
PSV’s recent drop-off can be put down, in part, to injuries up front, but Luuk de Jong was back in harness for the De Kuip clash and he set up their second goal. Anwar el Ghazi had been pressed into service as a centre forward during his most recent injury absence and the Egyptian appears to have remembered how to score goals again, bagging two in two.
Egyptian star worth following
The ex-Aston Villa man could still be a good option in anytime scorer markets, despite returning to his usual position now.
The main bet recommendation must be for a home win, given they have won eight of their ten in Eindhoven this season, and one by a couple of goals. Groningen have lost five of their last six away dates and shipped at least three goals in half of them.
A 3-1 correct score play makes sense too as PSV have hit 2.8 goals per outing at home this term and conceded 0.7 on average in those games.
