Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Livingston have seen under 2.5 goals in seven of their last eight matches and they’ve failed to score in five of their last six visits to Ibrox. The hosts struggled in front of goal against Kilmarnock but they conceded just 0.68 goals per game at home last term so expect this to be low-scoring.

Rangers 1-0

Reason for tip

Livingston have failed to score in five of their last seven matches in the Premiership, losing to nil in eight consecutive away trips. However, the Gers toiled in front of goal in their opener and with a Champions League game drawing their focus back this to be a narrow home win.

Rangers vs Livingston Predictions

  • Under 2.5 goals has landed in seven of Livingston’s last eight league games
  • The visitors have failed to score in five of their last six visits to Ibrox
  • Rangers lost 1-0 to Kilmarnock in their opening game of the season

Gers need to get back on track

With Rangers hoping to wrestle the Premiership title back from Celtic this term, they can’t risk falling six points shy of the champions after just two rounds. That’s the position they’re in heading into Saturday’s clash with Livingston, having lost 1-0 to Kilmarnock in their season opener.

The Gers did recover to win 2-1 against Servette in midweek and they’ll be looking for another win this weekend. The hosts won 16 of their 19 home games last term – going unbeaten at Ibrox. That fine run should be something for Livingston to fear, although they know the hosts have other priorities.

Routine win for distracted hosts

Rangers boss Michael Beale made it clear this week that the focus was on navigating a path through the Champions League qualifiers, with their first-leg win over Servette vital. Tuesday sees them head to Switzerland for the return leg, so they could have one eye on that clash.

Meanwhile, Livingston have made a strong start to the campaign. They won to nil in three of their four League Cup games, while they started the league campaign with a 0-0 draw against Aberdeen. They are aiming to be spoilers again at Ibrox this term, but it doesn’t bode well that they haven’t scored in five of their last six visits to this ground.

The visitors were low scoring at the end of last term and seven of their last eight Premiership matches have seen under 2.5 goals. With Rangers likely to quickly shift focus to Tuesday’s huge game, back this to be low-scoring.
