Rangers vs PSV Predictions
- PSV have won all five of their games this season.
- Rangers have scored nine goals in their last four games.
- PSV have win eight consecutive away fixtures, conceding in six of those.
Big ask for Rangers
Rangers face PSV Eindhoven in Champions League qualifying in what looks a massive challenge for the Ibrox outfit.
PSV have made an exceptional start to the season with five wins in as many games. Rangers did manage to down PSV in Champions league qualifying last term, drawing 2-2 at Ibrox before a stunning 1-0 win in the Netherlands, but that could work against them this year as the Dutch big guns will feel they have a score to settle.
Rangers are formidable at home, but the Eindhoven outfit’s form suggests they can inflict a rare defeat on the Gers in Glasgow.
Both teams capable of scoring
Both teams to score was under consideration for the main bet here but the price on a PSV win with goals at both ends is too good to ignore.
Rangers have hit nine goals across their last four games and have scored in each of their last 29 home games across all competitions.
The last time they drew a blank at home was a 3-0 defeat to Napoli in the group stages of last year’s Champions League and they did find Europe a step too far, losing to both Liverpool and Ajax at this ground.
PSV have won their last eight away games but have conceded in six of those trips, so backing the visitors to win with goals at both ends looks a good option here.
Rangers can keep it competitive
A 2-1 win for the visitors is the correct score prediction as even if they do fall behind they won’t want to take too many risks pushing men forward with a second leg still to come.
PSV have been in good scoring form and have hit at least three goals in three of their last four games, but Rangers away is a bigger test than they have faced during that brief period so a one-goal margin of victory for the visitors seems more realistic in what should be a close game.
Veteran forward Luuk de Jong scored three goals in the two games against Sturm Graz in the previous round for PSV and was also on target against Vitesse at the weekend. As such, he looks the best contender for a goal at anytime.
