Tip Reasoning

  • Each of the last three meetings between these sides have featured under 2.5 goals.
  • Sevilla’s last eight away games have saw two goals scored or less.
  • Real Betis have failed to score in two games already this season against sides above them.

No place like home

A return to their own ground will be well received by the Real Betis players after two thrashings on their travels.

Manuel Pelligrini’s side were well beaten by Atletico Madrid last weekend losing 3-0 before a 4-0 thumping in Germany at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday.

Betis have work to do in the Europa League if they are to qualify for the knockout rounds after that result but they will be glad to return home knowing that they are unbeaten in six matches here and have only lost one of the last four derbies when hosting.

Sevilla looking to build on an impressive start

Julen Lopetegui’s team lost 2-1 to Lille on Tuesday and now find themselves bottom of their Champions League group without a win (3D, 1L).

However, Sevilla have made yet another strong start to their domestic campaign and sit 3rd in the table one point off top spot and with a game in hand over Real Sociedad.

The visitors boast the league’s best defence conceding just seven goals through 11 matches and their rigid rear-guard has seen them ship just four goals in eight games away from home.

Despite losing just once on the road this season Sevilla have drawn five times so they will be hoping to turn one point into three, especially against their rivals.

Nothing to split them

With Sevilla keeping things relatively tight you would expect them to get something from this game. Betis have failed to score against any of the better sides they faced so far losing 3-0 to Atleti and 1-0 at home to Real Madrid. Sevilla would settle for a narrow win for sure but I expect Betis to hit the net given that they have the chance to go level with their rivals in the table so 1-1 seems likely.

Meanwhile, Lucas Ocampos seems best placed to score for the visitors considering that he has netted in both games this week.
