Real Madrid vs Eibar Predictions
To say it has been a mixed week for Real Madrid would be a huge understatement. They went from the jubilation of their 2-1 win in el clasico at Camp Nou on Saturday to a desperate 2-0 defeat at Wolfsburg in the Champions League in midweek. The 2nd leg next week now becomes absolutely enormous in terms of their season and perhaps their manager’s future. That will be their main focus and we could see a few players rested here, which they should be able to do comfortably enough and still win the game. They won’t have completely given up on La Liga having closed the gap to 7 points and if Barcelona drop points at Real Sociedad later in the day then we could just have a title race again.
A home game with Eibar is a nice fixture to have in between the two legs of a Champions League Quarter Final. The Basques have struggled over the past couple of months and have only taken 2 points from their last 7 league games. They still find themselves in the top half though after their fine start to the campaign so they won’t be losing too much sleep over their poor form and will come here without any real pressure on them.
When pricing the handicap market the bookies seem to be banking on a much-weakened Real Madrid line-up here. Given they’ve put at least 3 goals past every Spanish side that has visited other than Barca and Atletico since September backing Real Madrid -2.5 Asian Handicap at 2.150 seems generous and it probably is. There will be some changes but the likes of Isco and James Rodriguez coming in is hardly going to weaken the team and if anything will make it more attacking and more likely to put a few goals past an Eibar side that isn’t great at the back and has only kept 1 clean sheet in their last 15 matches and that was at home to bottom club Levante.
