Real Oviedo vs Real Sociedad Predictions

Oviedo out to frustrate struggling visitors 

It has not been the fairytale return to La Liga Real Oviedo were hoping for after 24 years away, with Santi Cazorla and his teammates suffering two defeats and scoring no goals in their opening pair of fixtures. 

It would usually be a major concern to allow 51 shots – 20 of which tested goalkeeper Aaron Escandell – across two games, but it is worth noting that those battering came from Villarreal and Real Madrid, sides who will likely be battling it out at the top come Spring. 

On paper, Real Sociedad being their next opponents represents a brutal first three games. However, the Basque side have been a long way off it for months now and they could be there for the taking in Oviedo. 

Real Sociedad set for another tough evening

Only six teams took more La Liga points than Real Sociedad’s 54 in 2024 but their form has since taken a nose dive with their tally of 23 since New Year’s Eve being fewer than 13 sides. 

Draws with Valencia and Espanyol – sides many expected to struggle this term – in their first two games have done nothing to suggest they are back on track and Sergio Francisco may still be searching for a first win as La Real boss after Saturday’s trip to Oviedo. 

Despite the results, Oviedo notched a respectable three shots on target against Real Madrid and four at Villarreal, suggesting Veljko Paunovic has the talent at his disposal to trouble a Real Sociedad side who have won just one of their last ten games.
