Sociedad can extend Celta struggles

Celta Vigo have made a disappointing start to the new La Liga season and they could be set for more misery when they head to Real Sociedad on Thursday.

La Real claimed their first three points of the season in their first home game of the campaign at the weekend as they overcame Espanyol 2-1.

Sociedad had a strong home record last season and how successful their campaign is this year will probably be dictated by their results at the Anoeta, and they should have too much for this out-of-sorts Celta side.

The visitors have just one point to show from their opening three games and all three have been against opponents that they could on paper have beaten. Celta opened the season with a 0-0 draw at Valencia, and have since lost at home to Osasuna and Bilbao.

Real Sociedad enjoyed the better of the head-to-head meetings last season with four points, including a 3-1 win at this venue. La Real can make the most of their home advantage and pick up all three points and a 2-0 home win looks a reasonable correct score prediction.

Celta have scored just one goal across their three games and have conceded twice in each of their last two, while Sociedad scored on average just under two goals per game at home last season and struck twice against Espanyol last time out.

Orri Oskarsson opened his account for the season at the weekend and was in decent scoring form over the summer with three pre-season strikes. The Iceland international hit nine La Liga goals for Sociedad last term, including four in his final five games, and he can grab a goal against Celta.
