Red Bull Salzburg vs Wolfsburg Predictions
- RB Salzburg will be missing their two most potent attackers in Karim Adeyemi and Benjamin Sesko.
- Wolfsburg themselves are without key forward Wout Weghorst but have the better quality replacements.
- The hosts rely heavily on the energy up top from Adeyemi and Sesko but that will be missing here.
Tight affair in Prospect at The Red Bull Arena
Matthias Jaissle’s side have made a solid start to their Champions League campaign, picking up four points from their opening two group games. The Austrian team remain unbeaten in all competitions this season but dropped points for the first time in their game against Altach at the weekend.
Star forward Karim Adeyemi is the talk of the town at the moment and is rumoured to have discussed a move to Bayern Munich in January. He’s scored two of Salzburgs three goals so far in the competition, but he is out here and it’s a huge blow.
Mark van Bommel’s side are in the middle of a rough patch and to make matters worse, key man Wout Weghorst has just tested positive for COVID-19 and will therefore miss out here. It means that Lukas Nmecha will likely replace him and lead the forward line for the visitors and will hope he can fire them to their first win in six matches.
Both of these sides are missing a number of key players and as such, goals will probably be in short supply. Despite recent form, the visitors have the better strength-in-depth to their squad and should be confident of claiming at least a draw here.
It’ll be an exceptionally close game but with the possibility of few chances, a low scoring draw seems a likely outcome.
