Republic Of Ireland vs Hungary Predictions
- Hungary have lost four of their last six games.
- Republic of Ireland beat Hungary here 2-1 last summer.
Hosts to get back to winning ways
Republic of Ireland made it four games unbeaten with their June draws against Luxembourg and Senegal, but they can get back to winning ways when they begin their World Cup qualifying campaign on Saturday.
Opponents Hungary picked up a win in Azerbaijan in the summer, but prior to that they had lost four and drawn one of their last five games, and their last trip to the Emerald Isle ended in a 2-1 defeat just over a year ago.
That win over Hungary came just days before Heimir Hallgrimsson was appointed as the new manager of the side, and, after a difficult start against Portugal and England, the Icelandic manager has guided Ireland to four wins, two draws, and two defeats in their last eight games.
Hungary have lost three of their last five away games and have conceded 13 goals in the process, so backing a home win appeals. Ireland have conceded once in each of their last two at home, so a repeat of their 2-1 win over Hungary last year looks solid.
